Our History

Established in 1888, Cott Systems began serving local
governments by providing record and index books. With the evolution of computer
technology we enhanced our relationship with local governments by
expanding our services to them. As a Service Bureau, we provided data processing
services and produced alphabetized indexes for land records and other county records.
In the 1970's, computer technology became affordable
for large government entities. We offered systems and developed
software that provided our customers with the ability to produce
alphabetized indexes on site. We complemented this service by
providing long-term merges of records from flexible disks or
magnetic tape.
In the 1980s, dramatic decreases in the cost
of computer systems made it possible for many local governments
to take advantage of improved efficiencies and store a large
volume of data on their own system. Cott software enabled our
customer to create their own index print outs. With this increased
county office independence also came the opportunity for local
governments to improve customer service and realize fee income
by providing the private sector with computer access to public
records.
In the early 1990's, Cott provided local governments
the opportunity to offer public access to their indexing systems
through dial-up modems. Now, with the use of internet access
widely accepted, Cott Systems offers public access to local government
records through the internet.
As Imaging systems became more
sophisticated, and the ability to scan documents into an electronic
file became a reality. Cott's software will attach images of
documents to their corresponding index. Cott has also utilized
new technology and client server platforms to provide local governments
the ability to communicate with not only the local government
offices, but anywhere in the world.
For more than 100 years, local
governments have counted on Cott Systems to help them automate,
manage, and store information. Government offices that use our
solutions are able to eliminate duplicate steps, reduce errors,
and experience better document workflow while maintaining their
current staffing levels.
